My phone ringing pulls me from the deep sleep that yesterday's emotions and Lachlan's generous orgasm put me into.

I extract myself from his warm embrace, emotion washing over me that I mentally bundle into a tight ball and shove down into a compartmentalization drawer.

I don't have time for it right now.

I still when he turns over onto his back, thinking that he'll wake up and want to discuss what happened and talk about what it meant.

But he just turns his head on his pillow, the white sheet draped across his muscled body like a sinful offering, only serving to highlight the golden tan from summer that still hasn't faded completely. Peeling my eyes away, I make my escape to my room and grab up my phone just as it stops ringing. My eyes linger briefly on the sheaf of papers that Lachlan put on my dresser before I push that out of my mind, too.

1 Missed Call: Damian

Blowing out a breath, I glance towards the living room and close my bedroom door, reminding myself that I have nothing to feel bad about.

That doesn't stop a thread of guilt from pulling at me.

You don't owe either of them anything when it comes to your love life.

Right.

I am a single woman and I haven’t made any promises to anyone.

Dialing Damian back, I move to my bathroom mirror and check my edges since I neglected to put on my satin scarf last night, and I didn't sleep on my own pillow. It took me way too long to get them back in good shape after an incident with too-tight braids.

The line rings twice before his smooth voice comes over the connection. "Good morning, gorgeous. Did I wake you?"

"No, you're fine. I was just about to take a shower."

"Good, how do you feel about a spontaneous date with me after you're dressed?"

I glance at my closed door again, pulling my lip between my teeth.

Last night didn't change anything.

I'm still not in love with Lachlan the way I thought all these years, and Damian is a good option that I need to do a whole lot better about exploring.

That means what happened last night can't happen again.

I don't regret it at all, but that doesn't mean that we can keep doing it.

I don’t want him to get confused.

"I could get into that."

"Perfect. Wear jeans, and I have a shirt for you already."

"Do I get to know what we're doing?"

"I just hope you aren't afraid of a little dirt."

“Do you want me to meet you there?”

“Let’s do it old fashioned. I’ll pick you up. Just tell me where you want me to grab you. Two hours?”

“Two hours.” I confirm, worrying the edge of my comforter.

“See you soon, gorgeous girl.” With that, I hear the line click off and I drop my phone on the bed, wondering if I can get in and out before Lachlan wakes up.

I don’t know, but I’m damned sure going to try.
